To build Eastern Bluebird Houses, the first step is take measurements using a pencil and a carpenter's square. A straight line should be drawn across the breadth of the wood in the appropriate measurements mentioned above. The divisions should be cut into six different pieces which can be used for constructing the birdhouse. A hole should be made in the entrance and exit of the house using a hole cutter. This hole allows the easy entry and exit of the birds. The holes should be made according to the size of the birds which is going to reside in the birdhouse. Air holes can be drilled in the house walls.
The floor and roof to the back piece should be nailed using a nail on all the end portions of the wood. The gap between the floor and roof should be ten inches. The side piece and roof should be attached together with the help of hammering small nails. Two nails should be nailed into the outer part of the side piece, into the corners of the side piece. The front piece should be nailed into the birdhouse using a hole at the top region.

To make the door, the last wooden piece should be placed into the side portion which has been kept opened. The nails should be nailed on all the sides including the front and back region. This will ensure that the penetration occurs till the last portion. The bottom portion should be left without nails so that it can swing easily. The last nail should be used for hammering the front piece of the bottom portion into the swinging side segment. It should not be tightened. It can be pulled out and pushed back while opening and closing the birdhouse. The nest-box is usually made up of red cedar material. These houses should be situated away from shady areas and don't allow the sunlight to directly enter through the entrance. Make sure squatters, such as other bird varieties don't have access to it.
